Lloyd’s Yacht Club Over 60’s lunch

LutineClub, Social

The Club has around 200 Over 60s active retired and working members.

On 30th April, under the careful co-ordination of Geoff Cozens, we held the annual get together, at a new venue, to encourage more involvement of the Club’s more mature and experienced seafarers.

We met at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge, and Lloyd’s YC Commodore Guy Williams came along for pre-lunch drinks and gave a few words of encouragement. Guy has said that “It would be great to get the more senior members more involved”.

Royal Thames provided an outstandingly good value spread in the main restaurant overlooking Hyde Park.

At 15.00hrs our member Malcolm Harvey represented the Antigua & Barbuda Tot Club, with a reading from Naval Historical records of the day.

A toast was proposed by Geoff to The King and we then followed the old naval tradition of drinking a ‘tot’ of Pussers Rum.

Members had the opportunity to look around the Royal Thames, have pre-lunch drinks on the terrace and see the amazing collection of half-hulls in the Club’s model room – including our own 1951 Lutine, now known as Lutine of Helford.

Geoff is now looking to arrange a Winter Lunch and would like to hear from members interested in taking part in future Over 60’s events (on land and at sea) at geoffcozens@hotmail.com
