Whatever your experience, there can be no better way to enjoy a weekend’s cruise sailing than on the luxurious and hugely stylish Lutine X-55 – one of the most recognisable boats in the Solent and warmly welcomed wherever she berths.

Lutine sleeps 8 crew plus skipper comfortably and you are welcome to sign-up for any weekend either alone, with up to 2 non-member guests or as part of a group booking. Most weekends are a mix of ages and experience, including first timers, so there’s always good opportunities to learn in an environment that is consciously non-shouty or sailing terminology/technique presumptive – we try to demystify the whole sailing experience, something that is often quite difficult to find in the Solent!

As a crew, you can decide where you go and what you want to achieve, in consultation with your skipper. This could be, for example, cruising the Solent with overnight stays in Cowes, Yarmouth, Lymington or Beaulieu River – you may wish to take on a particular Club Challenge such as sailing around the Isle of Wight, racing 7 miles offshore to the Nab Tower or honing your short mark racing experience in the Solent itself. There is magnificent silverware for all the Club Challenges, awarded at an end of season social. There is even an award for the best kept logbook! You may alternatively plan to sail across the Channel to Deauville, Cherbourg etc. or head west to Poole or Weymouth. If night sailing is what you want, then these longer passages provide an ideal opportunity for that.

In non-Fastnet years, Lutine is available for all the long Bank Holiday weekends and always the 4-day Easter weekend – these provide an opportunity to seek more distant shores such as St Malo and/or the Channel Islands or Dartmouth/Salcombe for example. We always strive to accommodate the wishes of our more adventurous members!

We have 2 Learn to Sail weekends per season which can booked for just the Saturday or Sunday (or both) and are tailored to what you, as individual members, want to get out of them. There are also 2 weekends per season dedicated to the Club’s younger members, one for Under 35s and the other for Under 30s.

These weekends provide a wonderful combination of exhilaration, bonhomie and adventurous learning.

Any questions around these weekends, however seemingly basic they may be, will be welcome – just get in touch with Tim Blackstone at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
